Mother Natividad Pilapil, OP (the then Prioress General) initially communicated with Bishop Artemio Casas about Mother Francisca. He drafted a prayer for the Beatification of Mother Francisca.

1964

1964 June 16

The first official move to work for the Cause of Beatification of Mother Francisca with the encouragement of the Bishops and the Apostolic Nuncio H.E. Carlo Martini. The Nuncio mentioned that in the spirit of the Jubilee Year to be celebrated the following year, it was very possible that the Holy Father will dispense the presentation of her mortal remains and because of the 400th Jubilee Celebration of Evangelization, it was probable to receive this grace of Jubilee.

In a letter of Fr. Jesus Merino, OP to Mother Natividad Pilapil, OP, told her of the inability to find the remains of Mother Francisca after the attempted excavation of 10 ft. deep (at the Colegio de Letran grounds) and therefore was useless to continue.
However, the Dominican Fathers sustained the inspiration and courage of Mother Natividad Pilapil telling her that even with the little funds enough to finish a part of the project, the next generation of sisters will finish the process with the help of
Mother Francisca.

The Apostolic Nuncio informed Mother Natividad Pilapil, OP that the Philippine Hierarchy during its annual meeting in Baguio of January, appointed an Episcopal Commission to study the Introduction of the Causes for Beatification of Mother Francisca and Mother Sebastiana. Prayer for Mother Francisca was given ecclesiastical approval.

The 8th General Chapter approved to reactivate the Work for the Causes for Beatification and Canonization of Mother Francisca. Thus, the establishment of the Mother Francisca Commission.

The Tricentennial Celebration of the Foundation of the Beaterio e Sta. Catalina.

The Process for the Causes of Beatification and Canonization of Mother Francisca was initiated with the Nomination of Fr. Innocenzo Venchi, OP by Mother Aurora Villaverde, OP, as the Postulator for the Said Cause approved by the Archbishop of Manila, Jaime Cardinal Sin.

Obtained the “Nihil Obstat” from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Vatican City. Hereon, Mother Francisca was given the Canonical title of “Servant of God”.

The Transmitted Acts on the Diocesan Inquiry on the Life, Virtues and Fame of Sanctity were opened at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Vatican.. thus THE CLOSING OF THE DIOCESAN PHASE and BEGINNING OF THE ROMAN PHASE.

The Congregation of the Causes of Saints (CCS), Vatican City granted the Decree of Juridical Validity on the Diocesan Inquiry on the Life, Virtues and Fame of Sanctity of Mother Francisca.

The Composition of the POSITIO SUPER VITA, VIRTUTIBUS, FAMA DE SANCTITATIS of the SoG Mother Francisca was entrusted to the care of Fr. Christopher Bove, OFM Con., the Relatore.

Letter sent to CBCP President from the Prioress General  to allow the Congregation to promote the life, virtues and fame of sanctity of Mother Francisca del Espiritu Santo de Fuentes to all dioceses

A Circular Letter was released by the CBCP regarding the request of the Prioress General of the Congregation for the bishops to give them the opportunity to promote the Causes of Beatification and Canonization of Mother Francisca.

The MFC gave orientation on the promotion of Mother Francisca in parishes, schools and other institutions to the sisters of the Congregation, members of Lay Missionary Associates of Mother Francisca (LMAMFES) and Confraternity of Mother Francisca (COMFES).

The DATE set for the COLLEGIAL DISCUSSION of the POSITIO on the HEROIC VIRTUES OF Mother FRANCISCA.  In the Congress, the Consultors may make clear their own definitive positions. With this procedure it guarantees the seriousness of the study of the Cause from the part of the Theological Consultors and this evades whatever Cause with its problems not fully resolved can be brought in to the Ordinary Session of the Cardinals and Bishop-Members of the Congregation.
